Western Harbour, Edinburgh

Construction of 118 new build apartments across four blocks, for social rent & mid-market rent.

Client:

CCG Scotland for the City of Edinburgh Council

The project involves the construction of four blocks of apartments (118 new build apartments in total) comprising a mix of one, two and three-bedroom homes, for a mix of social rent & mid-market rent.

As part of the regeneration of the Newhaven Western Harbour area, the project includes a structurally independent undercover car parking at ground level with amenity deck above, which sits in the middle of the blocks configured in a rough rectangular shape around the site.

The construction comprises piled foundations, with reinforced ground floor concrete slab, a single storey podium deck formed in hot rolled steelwork, supporting the upper residential accommodation.

Superstructure is formed of a timber frame kit with traditional masonry support system and a mixture of facing brickwork, brick slip cladding and a metal sheet cladding system.

Roofs are a mixture of flat roofs clad with single ply membrane, and pitched roofs with tiles and hidden gutters.
