Radford Mill, Nottingham
New build student accommodation including conversion of existing mill buildings
Client:
City & Country Project Management Limited
The project is situated in the Radford area of Nottingham, approximately 1.25 miles west of Nottingham City Centre and occupying a prominent position fronting Ilkeston Road, creating a new student living environment in close proximity to city centre shopping, health and recreational amenities and several local university campuses. The new accommodation includes on-site gym, cinema room, games room, study rooms and courtyard.
Â
Technically, the project involved the construction of several light-weight steel framed structures to create a number of new structures, arranged around the main conversion of existing Grade 2 Listed mill building which had been built around the turn of the 20th Century, and was a solid brick construction typical of the period, incorporating decorative brick banding to the window arches and neo classical dress stone detailing to the entrances, parapet and window sills.
Â
Q was delighted to have been involved in this project which enables us to draw from our extensive experience of conversion projects, particularly with Listed Buildings and the challenges associated with ensuring historic buildings can be brought up to habitable standards.
