Deans South, Livingston
Construction of 90 new build homes for affordable housing and some open market residential
Client:
Springfield Properties for Wheatley Homes
After a fault was identified in the concrete of the original homes at Deans South in Livingston, the estate was earmarked for demolition in 2004 and the area fell into disrepair.
Funded by Wheatley Group with grant funding from the Scottish Government, Springfield worked with the housing association to build 90 new units using sustainable timber kits constructed off-site at the Springfield timber kit factory, featuring air source heat pumps, to reduce the emissions of the homes and keep running costs low for residents.
The 90 units are a mix of one, two and three-bedroom properties, comprising bungalows, cottage flats and terraced houses.
Q is delighted to have worked with Springfield on this landmark project, regenerating an area of Livingston and providing much needed new affordable housing for the local community.
